| Notes | Longitudinal stiffener to crossbeam welds on the Severn Crossing have failed in service due to fatigue. This report describes the final stage of a programme of work to develop a repair method which will also strengthen the joint to give an adequqte service life. It is estimated that the repair must increase the life of the joint by a factor of nine. |
