Title | Construction of a trial on A30 Bodmin Bypass to investigate ways of minimising reflection cracking in a new overlay |

Physical Description | 26p., charts |

Notes | This report describes the construction of a trial on the A30 trunk road at Bodmin Bypass to assess the ability of three types of geotextile to minimise the development of reflection cracking in an asphalt overlay on a flexible composite road. Hot rolled asphaltoverlays of 40mm and 80mm thickness were laid over the geotextiles. In addition, one test section was constructed in which five proprietary crack-inhibiting treatments were applied to individual cracks before overlaying with 40mm of hot rolled asphalt. Details are given of visal condition surveys and Falling-Weight-Deflectometer measurements to assess the severity of the cracks being treated. |
