Publisher | Transport and Road Research Laboratory, 1990 |
Physical Description | 23p., charts |
Series | Working Paper: Materials Memorandum 224 |
Notes | The satisfactory performance of a bituminous layer is dependent on the achievement of adequte compaction and, in the case of a hot rolled asphalt wearing course, the correct embedment of the hot rolled asphalt wearing course, the correct embedment of the chippings. The property controlling these factors in materials is the mix workability. In this report, the concept of workability is defined, the method which have been proposed to quantify it are reviewed, and the results of a laboratory investigation into one method, the tripod penetrometer test, are described. |
