| Notes | Abstract: Measurements showed that the fac indexing system developed at the tunnelling trials at Chinnor could be used satisfactorily under the different conditions and in the different chalk of the chalk was found to be 6.7 MN/m2 (970 psi). The average discontinuity spacing was 0.33 m, and most of the discontinuities were sub-parallel to the tunnel axis indicating that they have resulted from the excavation process - either by stress changes of weathering effects. |
