Tne DoT have for some time been concerned that deterioration of reinforced of concrete bridges has been leading to an escalating cost of inspection, repair and maintenance. This has the added consequence of traffic disruption and inconvenience to the public. There is a strong incentive to devise a cost effective alternative to steel reinforcement which is less vulnerable to chemical attack, particularly from road salt. These are the issues this report deals with.
