       Notes - general: This report contains an evaluation of four automatic
                        number-plate recognition systems.  The evaluation was
                        conducted using information on costs and system
                        performance supplied by the manufacturers of the four
                        systems.  The accuracy of the number-plate recognition
                        units of each system was independently evaluated by
                        TRL using a video tape of motorway traffic filmed in
                        daylight.
