Notes - general: The existing method for determining the polished-stone
value (PSV) of an aggregate requires the use of
particles passing the 10mm test sieve and retained on
the 14 mm to 10mm flake sorting sieve. In order to
determine the PSV of a number of samples of 20mm
uncoated and pre-coated chippings which are too large
to prepare standard test specimens, test specimens
made up by breaking aggrigate particules in half to
expose new faces were tested using the otherwise
standard procedure. The results of these tests are
discussed and compared to the standard PSV value.
