       Notes - general: Two trial sections of wearing course, one using 70 pen
                        bitumen with Chemcrete and the other 50 pen bitumen,
                        as a control, were laid in March 1985.  Measurements
                        and visual inspections have been made at annual
                        intervals. The indications are that both sections are
                        performing satisfactorily; recent results suggest that
                        the Chemcrete surfacings may have higher resistance to
                        permanent deformation in the longer term.
