Title: An investigation of chemcrete U1-49 in a low-stability
hot rolled asphalt

Notes - general: A laboratory investigation and full-scale trial of
Chemcrete U1-49 in a low-stability hot rolled asphalt
are described. In laboratory tests, the addition of
2% of Checrete U1-49 resulted in improvements to
stability, modulus and wheel-tracking rate. In a
full-scale road trial, the same ashpalt mix with
Chemcrete in 70% bitumen was laid satisfactorily under
adverse weather conditions and, after 1 year, the test
section showed superior rutting and retention of
texture compared with a control material using an
unmodified 70 pen bitumen; after this period of time
the Chemcrete materials were not apparently fully
cured.
